Cave Hot
Springs, Nelson
This 3 or 4 day tour takes you through the spectacular coast
mountains, the dry interior desert of Ossoyoos, to Ainsworth Hot
Springs. We will stop along the way to visit the strange "spotted
lake" and, if in season, some of the famous fruit stands. After our
long drive, you can soak in the famous "cave hot spring".
The next day
we will take a ferry to the old town of Crawford Bay where you can
visit the many artisans including a broom-maker, blacksmith,
glassblower, rustic furniture maker and other artists. In the
afternoon we will visit the charming town of Nelson with its
Victoria houses. That evening there is more hot spring soaking, and
if you are brave, the ice-cold plunge pool.
On the last day we visit scenic Kaslo, "little Switzerland",
then drive over mountain pass to Sandon, to see the ghost town and
the oldest working hydroelectric power plant. On the way back to
Vancouver we may stop to look for fossils.
